NC GOP Chairman Says Democratic Voter Registrations Are Plummeting As Party Has 'Abandoned' Values
Simmons said that Republicans from a structural standpoint are "better positioned than we've ever been" going into the 2024 election to win, specifically due to early voting.
North Carolina GOP chairman Jason Simmons said that Democratic voter registrations in the Tar Heel State are plummeting because the party "abandoned" values the state holds. "As we've continued to see, whether it's in urban, suburban or rural areas, people are fleeing the Democrat Party," Simmons said on the "Furthermore with Amanda Head" podcast. "Their registration numbers here in North Carolina continue to fall as Republican registrations increase."
He said that Republicans from a “structural standpoint” are “better positioned than we’ve ever been” going into the 2024 election to win, specifically due to early voting.
It was reported over the weekend that early voting numbers in North Carolina in 2024 exceeded 2020 numbers despite the devastation that Hurricane Helene brought to the state.
Helene hit Florida a few weeks ago as a Category Four storm, and caused disastrous damage in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The Associated Press reports that parking lots at voting sites were full in areas in the Piedmont counties where there had been massive flooding from Hurricane Helene.
“You have Democrats historically in this state fleeing its party because of the policies and direction that they have taken the party,” Simmons said. “They have abandoned the values that especially people here in North Carolina hold true.”
